Do I need a winch mounting kit for RTV500?

Little confused of the front set up where the front hitch is on the 500. Can a Winch bolt right up or do to that plate or do I need the appropriate mounting kit for it?

If so where have you all found good deals for the winch and kit?

You will need the plate to mount the winch fairlead to. I liked buying the Kubota kit because it had the little bracket to hold your switch without drilling the dash, it had the fairlead kit, and it also had instructions on where to hook your wiring without splicing anything.

If you decide to go with buying the winch and plate separate there is a wire in the 3 prong triangle shaped connector under the hood behind your headlight switch...that is where you can pull your switched power from. The Warn Kit from Kubota is pricey but it's a great winch and in my opinion well worth the cost.

I would rather go with the entire kit, that way you get everything you need. Did you order straight from kubota or another source? Also I was planning on getting a higher capacity winch then the 2500lb one. How has your 2500lb winch handled your 500?

I got the kit right from the Kubota dealer. The 2500 seems to be plenty for my 500...I've used it quite a bit for pulling on trees and pulling my stump grubber to get small stumps out and it worked like a charm. I don't think you'll benefit much from a larger winch and it will be very tight in the mounting area with a larger winch if it fits at all.

I bought a terra 45 4500 lbs super winch on amazon for $278 w/free shipping and it has the synthetic cable that I wanted to try out. The mount I ordered from amazon came from KFI products and looks nice ($60?). I will be installing mine this Saturday but I can tell you that I took it out of the box and it fit fine in the winch cubby.

My dealer wanted $770 to install a 2500lbs warn winch.........I said no thanks, too much $ for too small of a winch. I'm happy with my decision.:thumbsup:

Yes, I took it out and it fits fine in the cubby.

I was worried about it being just the winch but it came with all wires, both the dash and hand held remote and the solenoid. I should mention that the dealer's quote included and receiver style mount and extra wires to be able to move the winch front to back when needed but I wanted it in the cubby. Plus I figured for that cost I could buy 2 and have them front and back permanently.

Terra is the model, Super Winch is the manufacture. I like and have had WARN but I think to a point they are using the name to get a premium price so I decided to try super winch.

I bought a Runva 4500# winch with remote for my 500 Kubota from Sportsman Guide this fall and picked up a winch plate from Kubota to fit everything in the front pocket. Routed the cables from the front pocket through the tunnel back to the battery and mounted the solenoid under the hood. Biggest problem I had to do was pop the plug out of the dash and enlarge for the onboard winch switch.
May be overkill to have a 4500lb winch but the price and features of it made me happy.
