DK55 lost all power

I had a problem this weekend with my tractor, it acted like the fuel filter was plugged, so I changed it and it made no difference. When I shut it off it would start up and run fine, but not for long and it would mess up again. I ended up pulling all of the fuel lines one at a time and making sure they flushed out good. I started it up and it ran fine so I took it out and left it running while I went in a searched around in the puddle of fuel on the floor. I found a small piece of plastic in the puddle, it was a cutting from when the tank was drilled for the sending unit. I chipped with it for about 1/2 hr and it ran perfect. Just wanted to post this incase someone else had a similar issue. I was pretty worried but it ended up being a simple fix!

Had a similar problem with my DK501- ended up being hard check valves in fule lift pump (at 160 hrs)
Not a servicable item so replaced the mechanical pump with a electric pump - now goes fine

How does a chunk of plastic get by a 10 micron fuel filter? or was it in the line before the filter?

The fuel filter is after the fuel lift pump so debris can make the pump check valves stick open.
If the check valves are stuck the fuel drains back to the tank
So the engine stops, or looses power dramaticaly
I have fitted a filter separator on the pump suction to the fire wall (near the air filter) this gives a pre filter before the pump and a glass bowl to see any water.
I use all drum fuel so often get some water in my fuel (condensation in the drums)
