Does anyone know the year they put the rear wiper on the DK50? I have a 2002, and now that I have got the Woodmaxx blower on it, it would be helpful to have a rear wiper so I can see what I am doing. I don't think I can drill the glass to put a manual wiper on, so I am hoping I can get the glass from a newer model and maybe, just maybe it will fit on the old hinges. Any ideas?

I broke the rear glass on my 2007 DK45:smiley_aafz: Mine has the rear wiper, the glass was available with & without the holes for the wiper. It turns out, the glass with the holes was actually cheaper (I guess more demand??) I should mention "cheaper" may be a misnomer!!! (nothing cheap about it!!) As I recall, it was over $500 - with shipping being nearly half the cost!

I know this doesn't answer your question about a 2002 DK50, I'm just saying that I doubt (very) seriously that anyone would likely find it cost effective to purchase all new parts, just for the convenience of a rear wiper. If you are considering it, I sure don't see why you can't just call your local dealer with your model / serial number, and get an availability/cost estimate.

My rear glass was tempered glass, I am assuming yours is to...I would HIGHLY recommend checking on the replacement cost BEFORE you take a drill to it!!

I understand costs and all, but it is pretty important to be able to see out the rear window when blowing. The blown snow has a tendency to clump and stick to the rear window (as do the water droplets). I purchased an aftermarket rear defroster (frostfighter.com), now I have to get rid of the water droplets.

Try Rain Away or other water repellency product. They do an amazing job of keeping water off. It certainly would be a cheap place to start.

So Kioti Paul - when your glass broke was it a instant diamond mine or did it have plastic inside to hold it together ? A glass company might be able to make one with a hole ,then send it out to be tempered .

Instant (explosive!) diamond mine is an excellent description! No plastic film in it. Three years later, and I am still finding an occasional diamond.
