Kioti DK45SE with Cab
Hi...
before getting the DK45SE, I had another tractor without the AC and used to run it with the LH door open at all time to get fresh air...
Yesterday I had to get the tractor close to the garage because we are building a new extension and as usual, the LH door was open... as soon as I got close to the wall... the door caught in and BOOM all the glass everywhere, I was like WTF you just did ?
took me 2 hours to clean the best I could (its not metal, can't use a magnet!)... the seal was full of little glass, tried to clean it but took 30 mins to clean 1 foot and finally decided to trash it..
the bracket that hold the shock absorber is bent but I can get it into spec, the shock itself seem OK

I just called the dealer and he wants:

new glass door 836$ + taxes
new seal 150$ + taxes
and 2-3 labor hour at 75$/h + taxes
worse scenario total = 1211$ (1392$ tax in) CDN dollars

the door still close nicely but if it's a little bit bent, I prefer they do the work to be sure I dont break a second glass...

He has the parts in stock thankfully

I feel really dumb, Got AC and not using it? tssss... oh well, I'll be 1400$ poorer (still bashing my head against the desk)

if you guys run the tractor with the door open, someday, you'll forget about it, be carefully

Jose G.

P.S: I dont have any picture, it already cleaned up but could get you some of the tractor with the missing glass

OUCH! I have the cabbed DK50SE HST - love it - but worry about doing the same thing someday. I did pull the same kind of stunt with my truck, backing up and snagged the open drivers door on a tree. $1200 later, all is well - lol.

I never operate with a door open, like Egbert, I did it once too often on my truck many years ago.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, we had to replace two doors on our Case several years ago, just exploded driving around.

Just remove the door?

go to a local glass store and see if they can cut and fit a piece for you.

The glass on these tractors is curved with a lot of hardware mounted to it, I don't know if you could just cut a piece of glass for one.

Jose, sorry to hear that. My neighbor exploded his side window when a baseball sized rock launched off the brush hog blade, hit a tree and rebounded into it. I have torn my fair share of stuff up....most my fault, which always makes it worse. Hopefully you will "never do that again":)

grm's right, these tractor cab glass are all proprietary curved one of a kind. I guess you could get a torch and bend some plexy....I'd rather pay the $1400.

Ouch! didnt know that it was curved. I'd still ask a local glass cutter. The worse they can say is sorry we dont do curved glass. Nothing ventured/nothing gained. I'd rather ask just to get rid of nagging what if's.....

remember, the glass is TEMPERED. you cant just cut a piece of glass in fit it in.

Actually, i would think that piece of glass was more costly than that.

Then again, thats why i have insurance on mine. It would have only cost me $250 deductible to replace a broken door panel with the commercial policy.

I got the insurance to cover me during snow removal, but also cause i want all this glass covered. I also never move 1 inch with an open door. I can latch side windows open if i dont wish to use a/c.

Man, im sorry for the loss of that glass....that would truly suck. Im going to let the wife read this thread so shell remember to keep the door shut also

good luck
