I have a serious fuel leak some where around the fuel tank. I can't see the leak and need to take the fuel tank out to find it. Normally I would take it to the dealer but my tractor was flooded during the 2005 hurrican Rita and has problem galore so bringing it there will be too costly for me.

I'm having a little problem getting the fuel tank out. Can some one tell me what I need to do? I bought a DK45 service manual from Jon DePratt (great guy btw) a few years back but the manual has no diagram/pictures around the fuel tank to give me an idea on what I need to do to take it out.

I also have a KL242 FEL and the bucket tilt cylinder need to be replaced. I'm looking for a recommendation on what I need to buy.

Thanks,

Yes, the tank design allowed for wear at the fuel nipple, and depending if you have a metal or plastic tank, other problems like water can cause them to leak too. Is you tank plastic?
What is the serial # of your tractor - this will help us identify various production date info related to parts on you machine.

Can you post pics of your loader cylinder(s), and further describe the various problems the tractor is having?

And what Gil said- find the post- the removal is difficult at best....

CM out

My tank is metal and I haven't had the time to get to it yet but will try this evening. The tractor is at least 15 yr old. The thing has been through some rough times since it was submerged in sea water during hurricane Rita. I'm amazed that it has continued to run this long. The bucket tilt cylinder piston was dented and bent in some mishaps way back so there's little wonder that it leaks. I just need to find the right size to buy a replacement.

Thanks for the links on removal, I find them useful plus they kind of tell me that I'm not a dolt :). It is going to be difficult.

Dear Kioti,
I've seen ATM machines less secured in place than your fuel tank. Had you put that level of effort in making the tank, I would not have needed to take it out!

Thanks all for the links provided. From there I was able to find out the following:
My FEL is actually KL249 instead of KL242 as I said earlier. It is actually a Rhino 2409 made by Rhino for Kioti way back when. The Rhino part number for the bucket cylinder is 43753. The nearest Rhino dealer to me quoted me a price of $295. For much less than that I can buy 2 cylinders from the Surplus dealer (link on TBN home page). The specs for the cylinder is 29" overall length, 19" stroke, 1 3/8" bore, 1" pin holes with through pin hole in the back and t-connector on the piston end.

I got the fuel tank removed and repaired with epoxy. It wasn't hard once I figured out my way around. I bought the FEL cylinders from Surplus supply and they worked great. I wish I had bought the hoses from them too. The local hydraulic hose place charged me an arm and half a leg for just four hoses.

My tractor is back in working shape. Just in time too because I have roughly 800 y3 of dirt to spread.

So where was it leaking from? Got any pics for us of the disassembly/ repair install? We need pics!!
