After my first service(@ 50 hours, oil change, hydraulic fluid change, so on) which was preformed by my local Kioti dealer I've been having a after dump hesitation with the FEL. After I dump a heavy bucket (66") of dirt the bucket will freeze in the dump position. With the tractor at 1800-2300 rpm or so this hesitation will last about 2-3 seconds while I'm trying to continue the dump motion. At idle the hesitation is about twice that time.

I've check the hydraulic fluid level with the tractor off and it's just about perfect. I'm thinking there is air in the system. If that’s the case does anyone know the best way to bleed the hydraulics? Or does anyone have any other suggestions.

My 1470 does something similar. After dumping it will hesitate with the bucket pointing straight down,if I raise the RPMs it will continue back to clear the bucket of material, wierd Huh?I haven't figured it out yet because it hasn't been a big problem. It almost seems like getting past center is the hang-up............Mike

Yeah it's kinda weird. My bucket never got stuck straight down before the service though. I know the my Kioti dealer used 821XL hydraulic fluid @ the service. I wonder if the tractor came shipped from the factory with one of the oils listed in the owners manaul. I'm kinda lost at the sudden change after service. I'll ask the dealer monday(he won't have a clue).

I'm currently in the process of doing alot of excavating and the bucket getting stuck straight down is getting annoying.

I blamed this on the way the linkage is designed and works. There seems to be a lot of slop in this linkage set up. I first noticed it pushing my self out useing the curl. bcs

You might want to run this by Kioti customer service, they are great and won't give up until you're satisfied.....Mike

This is normal. It happens when the load in the bucket pulls the bucket down faster that the hydraulic fluid can go into the cylinders. This will happen with a heavy load without a regenerative control valve.

Thanks Jerry that makes sense. Can you tell us more about the regenerative control valve?......thanks,Mike

Here is an excerpt from a previous discussion that explains it pretty well.
What is "regen"? The dump function of the loader control valve applies hyd. "power" to both sides of the bucket cylinders at the same time. But Kubmech, how the heck is that going to work? Wont the cylinder just lock up and not move? No, because on one side of the cylinder the rod itself takes up space, decreasing the volume of the cylinder, on the other side of the cylinder piston there is, no rod, creating more volume. PSI=pounds per square inch, the more volume the more square inches to apply pounds, get it? O.K. so the back side of the cylinder overcomes the front side of the cyl. due to more volume and at the same time does not allow an air pocket to develop becuase of the added resistence of "hyd. power" to the front side of the cyl. allowing the cylinder to "stay tight" for subsequent operations. And as an added bonus it tends to dump faster due to the higher amount of flow/pressure to perform this operation. (Hence the "fast dump" mode the salesmen love to tell you about) In actuality the "fast dump"
mode is just derivative of the regen circuit

For all you out there fighting this problem, if you push the lever ALL the way over to the right that valve DOES have regen and will eliminate the problem. However, for those who want to feather their loads out a little at a time, the problem of cavitation will continue. You can however put an oriface in-line that impedes the flow of oil in one direction slightly to limit this problem when feathering. An oriface kit to limit cavitation will be available soon for those who want one. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: DK40 KL1470 FEL after Dump Hesitation,revisit

Kioti's excellent customer service has helped me again re: the hesitation problem. Here is the email attachment they sent
me.

Sorry,TBN will not accept the file size of the attachment. If anyone wants to email me at home I can forward it to you....Mike
