A DK 45 popped up on the local craigslist today for $6500. Seems like a pretty good deal compared to anything else I could find. Has 2000 hours, turf tires, no loader. It looks to be in good condition. The phone # is local so I don't think it's a scam. What's your opinions. Thanks.

I don't know how old it it, but 2000hrs is more than your typical weekender would rack up in even 6 or 8 years. Still, that doesn't mean much if its been well-treated/maintained. If it looks good, figure out how much more you'll need to lay out to get it equipped the way you want. Most likely, you'll want a loader and probably will want to replace the turf tires, too (which may/will? require new wheels). Then, there's attachment$$....

Any ideas on the approximate cost of a loader for this tractor?

Probably used to mow commercially. That's a lot of hours and the lack of FEL and turf tires leads to that conclusion. Retro buying a FEL will cost you $3500 and up. Finding a used one, that came off another DK45 would be like finding a needle in a haystack and just as pricey. That'd make that machine $10K.

Run away!

I kinda agree here. 2000 hours on a diesel isn't alot of hours, but it seems high for an average harry the homeowner. Sounds like a contractor's tractor to me. If it is in good condition, make an offer. If you get it below 6k, maybe the loader won't be an issue for you. I would reccommend that you price tractor tires before you buy, in case you don't want turfs. A little sticker shock may be headed your way.

Actually it wasn't a scam, I went and looked at it. It had been used to mow commercially. It looked pretty good but the guy didn't have any maintenance records or anything. It has since disappeared from CL so he must have sold it. I would love to have a DK40 or Dk45 but I want a front loader and R-1 tires and adding them after the fact is too much $$$$$$!!!
