Hey all!
You do not have to purchase any special tools or pay a shop to install these difficult to install seals.
Here is an easy DIY I found and had my mechanic watch it and perform the procedure. It does seem easier if the vice jaws are smaller. I think the best twine/rope to use is a smooth synthetic that is flat which I believe will fully support the seal and be less likely to slice/damage the material.
Also, after installation, a plastic drink bottle was cut wider than the seal to place under a hose clamp to safely compress the seal for installation ease.
