Some of you may remember about 5 years ago or so I built an outside wood burner to heat my garage, it worked so well it ended up on my house and the two are not connected. I didn't actually build the burner part, more like I re purposed it. It wa a Fawcette hot air wood furnace, they are built north of the border
Good company from what I have seen. It has a door about 12" x 12" and a round firebox that is about 18" across and 38" deep, it has a little electric motor that opens the draft when the thermostat calls for heat. In both units I re purposed blowers from oil fired hot air furnaces.
The one at the house works so well that I wanted another for the garage, I searched craigslist and the book of faces pages until the exact same unit appear'd about 45 minutes from me
I gladly paid their price and loaded it in my dump trailer.
It has been sitting partially done for a couple of years. After worrying about my barrel stove set up in the garage I decided I needed the space and the peace of mind of having the fire outside.
This is the basic unit, this picture is of the earlier version
The second one is of the same basic design, it works so why mess with it?
This was when it was still on the garage.
Here is the new version, all made with scrap roofing my brother and I had, I did buy the steel studs , I found a partial roll of insulation and my brother gave me a partial roll.
I haven't gotten around to make the door for it yet.
The new one is working great, I did have to buy a new low voltage transformer to run the motor for the damper though. It was windy and a mere 35 degrees today and the shop was toasty, I still have to run the t-stat wire.
Any questions feel free to ask.
