DIY downdraft wood gassifier

I've been reading about these things for a couple of years and think they are a good way to go. I am just wanting to make it myself.
Anyone have any advice or experience?
I'm wanting to heat my house with it through radiant floor tubing.

Can't have the smoke, ash, dust in the house due to my wifes medical condition.

I've done a lot of reading and I think I'm about ready to buy one of these:

Gasifier Experimenters Kit

It's about $2500 fully assembled. I want to hook it up to a small motor and make electricity.

I've seen that "lego" one before. Just trying to see if anyone else has ever done this for heating in their home.
