anyone here built a cultipacker to roll behind their grain drill?

I'm thinking of welding together metal barrels, filling them with water, and connecting them through bearings to a hitch to the back of my ancient john deere fb grain drill. Any opinions on this?

Most of the farmers around here use rubber tire packers. Basically just a lot of old tires (all the same size) on a pipe. Have not seen one up close enough to know if there are bearings etc. being used but you can see the tires wobble a little when they are going down the road so I think they are just sitting on a pipe. Also I would imagine they are filled with something to make them heavy.
