I have a 6' Deere flail mower that works for me other than there being many areas i can't reach or doo because its on a bank.

So i'm thinking sell the Deere and get a ditch flail mower.

Anyone have one of these?

I have a kioti rx6010 cab tractor and was thinking a 185 might be to big and a 160 be a better choice?

the Value Leader appears to be the best bang for the buck.

a 185 (74" 1276lbs) is pricy at a little more then 8k

Iowa Farm Equipment -- Maschio GIRAFFA Series Ditch Bank Flail Mowers

the 160 (63" 893 lbs) is $6k

Maschio Girafetta 160 63" Ditch Bank Hedge Flail Mower Mulcher 35 55HP Adjonfly | eBay

the value leader (54" 775lbs) is the smallest at a little less than $4k

54" Ditch Bank Flail Mower AGL145 - Value Leader Implements

My use would be low so if the value leader is well built it would be a good choice.

Also is there another one out there i missed?

Let me know if you've used, know someone who used or what you think about these.

Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim,
I have a Maschio Giraffa 210 for my Kubota M7040. The unit is heavy, and you definitely know that it is there especially when using it off set. I probably should have gone down a size. I use it to maintain a mile long road and keep back alders along the side. I also use it to mow around five acres of field and a grass airstrip. It will gnaw off alders and do a reasonable job on the grass with the hammer knives. I can't comment of the other brand, but I would buy a Maschio again if I was looking. I hope that this helps. Jim

I do not have the Ditch Bank Flail Mower by Value Leader , but did buy a flail mower from them to mow blue berries.
The mower is built pretty good but the blades are not much , I would say they may not be made out of hardened steel . I compared them to some blades that was on another flail mower a guy had and they were no way as hard . I like the mower , itself only thing that I have to change is a seal that's leaking. but as soon as I get the chance will find other blades for it , just something you may want to ask them about before buying it. The old saying that I've learned the hard way is "you get what you pay for "
good luck!

:笑: Hi, greg, I think you should have a bad experience when you use Chinese tractor, according to your signature. Could you tell me which brand Chinese tractor you bought? and how it disappoint you? I think I can get some experience from you when I sell CHinese tractor.

I have a perfect flail mower by Van Wamel, or something like that. It has ten pound hammers that are sharp until they hit one of the many stones around here. They will destroy a six inch tree but cut grass quite nicely when new! I use it with the JD 6200, but really wish I had a hydro equiped tractor as there are just too many controls to operate sumultaneously. I don't really dare get too close to the edge of the pond in certain tight places.

Sounds like the 185 might be a good choice. i think the value leader is a little small at 54"

Hey, I don't know about their mowers, but I had a VL chipper. Bought it new, and couldn't wait to sell it. The tolerances on the welds were terrible and generally a cheaply made tool. IMO

Hi, can you show us some photo about it?

I sold it, I got tired of beating myself up every time I used it. Everything I chipped, had to be pushed into the cutter, and I mean pushed, the conveyor drum was useless. The machine would not chip branches worth a darn. I bought it because of the price, I couldn't justify spending 4K+ on a real chipper!
