On my 1601D that I just completed, I found that the new 48" Howse brushhog was a little heavy. Even with short lift arms you could stand on the back and bounce the front end off the ground. I did not want to hang weight on the front end.

I pulled the four 3/4" bolts off the tower (to the center link), reversed the tower and brought the pins in 6" closer to the tractor. Man what a difference. Just by moving the center of gravity, 3 of us can jump on it and it will not budge (off the ground).

Maybe, many have already discovered this, and maybe I should have posted it somewhere else.....But this is a Yanmar improvement I couldn't resist sharing here.

I did a similar trick with an older TSC hog...but foolish me ended up rewelding everthing...bolting would have been easier. I did mine not for weight but because the PTO shaft was near its maximum extension....I didn't want that thing flying wildly if it came apart!!

Do you have pics of your change...it sounds really slick.

jdmar,
Sorry as I have tried on three seperate occasions to post pictures. Tried on private messages and photo section too.

It all boils down to: I just lack the talent to shrink the file size under 100KB. I probably even have the software installed, which came with the camera. I have read booklet cover to cover and all it says is to use 0.3 for email and website postings. I really enjoy looking at the pix other posters provide too. And I hate not being able to share mine - cause IMHO I have some really cool ones.

I hope I am a little smarter with tractors then cameras. Although I did replace this camera because I ran over my old one (with my Massey Ferguson).

Mark, tell us what camera and what software you have, and there very well may be someone on here who can tell you how to shrink your pictures to post them.

If you are using XP try emailing the pictures to yourself, choose to shrink file size, and then save the condenced attachement to a folder and then upload. Just a little trick I figured out when trying to post some pictures as well.

Thanks. Between your help and others I just might get this thing licked.
