I have a old 20 blade Disc. 6 of the blades are broken. I wont to replace them. The good old blades measure 19 inch from outside of the notches. Can I just buy 20 inch and grind down to match? I only see 18 and 20 blades. This is a old solid square frame Disc that got abused a little in a wooded area. I would think the blades need to match . Any thoughts

Disc blades do wear down. Don't know if yours have an 1" though. Get the 20" and put all one gang and use the unborken ones to fill in on the other gangs. Better yet would be to replace on 2 gangs either both fronts or Rears and then use old ones to fill in and keep some for future use.

Or if the numbers work, you could just buy the number to alternate in size, and not grind at all: 20" 19" 20" 19" 20" etc. You're only talking about half an inch difference in cutting depth. Since you're using an old field-find disk, it's not going into any critical application. It probably just has to work.

Were it mine, I would either consolidate all the new disks on the front or back, or alternate them in size. Is this an offset or a tandem disk?

I just checked the agri-supply site. I think I might put one new blade on each end of each gang. I looked at it closer this afternoon after my post , Most of them are 19.5. I am going to replace all 8 bearings . They are in bad shape. I got this Disc for free. It set up a long time. Than someone used it for a food plot disc and broke the blades. I think I can get it in shape for about 250.00 .

Thanks I will take some pics when I finish.

Yeah, they dont need to match exactly, just get them the next size bigger. New disks will quickly wear faster until they are all even. I am getting ready to replace some 26" disks that are worn down to under 20". They are designed to be a wear part.
