i've a couple of places on the farm that noone wants to mow... pretty steep and scary, you know the type... well, my l'il buddy 3510 doesn't have a bit of trouble :)

but the problem is, these guys have let the trash grow up, so thick and tall, that sitting on the tractor, the weeds are head high or more and my radiator, even with the screens stops up just every little bit and i have to run down to the barn and flush it out with the hose, or blow it out with the compressor...

i've tried mesh on the screens, but it still happens, just not as often...

i ran today, with the heat gauge up about 3/4ths and i don't like that AT ALL!!!

i do remember reading posts here, i think about overheating problems... has anyone found a fix for this? i've got another good sized patch to go and its a jungle...

I remember one of our members who suggested removing the side panels below the hood. I don't remember which model it was. If you can do that on a 3510, I don't think it would hurt anything unless you were in a situation where a limb, or other item could penetrate a vital organ. :)

When it's high grass etc. I try and cut just after rain. However, if cutting on a hill it might not be a good idea to cut wet grass. Have also used a cheap furnace filter cut to fit on rad and that has helped some. Of course it's best to cut often.

It's not just a Mahindra problem. I have the same trouble with my Kubota L4740. At this time of year, with the temps running around 100, it'll run all day without overheating but take it into the thick stuff, with dust and chaff flying and she'll last about 4 hours before everything is so plugged up that I have to come in and wash it down.

I don't know if there is an easy answer to the problem. I look on it as a good time to take a break but I do admit that it is a little "trying" when you are on a roll and want to get stuff finished.

i bought a roll of mesh nylon that they use in the front of an RV radiator, its really huge... i could literally wrap the whole tractor with it... but i intend to wrap the screens in front on the radiator with it...

i've done that before with nylon window screen mesh and it did give me more time in the field before i 'd have to go to the barn and blow it out... all i had to do was turn the tractor off, raise the hood and brush the mesh off... it caught a whole lot of stuff... this is a finer weave, so it may catch more, or maybe too much... we'll see...

yeah, i know it needs to be cut more often, but i'm not really to blame for this mess... this time ... i thought it was being mowed when they took the hay... NOT...

i don't get up to that part of the farm very often... no livestock or crops... just hay fields... so i wasn't aware it had gotten so bad...

that may sound strange, but there are places on the farm i haven't put a foot on since i bought it 20 years ago... they're WAY back in the woods and it takes an ATV to get in and out, 'less you wanna hoof it... and i don't recommend that during the summer when the snakes are crawlin...

i generally stay down around the house and barn where its flat and civilized...

I like that mesh idea.

It's the middle of July. If it were me I would not cut again till next spring.

I have places that I haven't been to for 35 years of ownership. Last year my property was drilled for some gas wells. They put in the roads and now I can drive into the back of property. Certain parts are real nice and level too. By the way, there old fence line posts still left. I guess the whole property was used at some point in the past.

A cycle bar mower would help a lot.
