I have been looking around the internet for a direct bury attachment for a skid steer. I have found one company that makes them which has me concerned. Is there a reason that of the hundreds of companies that make attachments only one makes the attachment? Am I missing something?

I presume you are looking at burying a electric cable? If so, you'll need 24" of cover. The problem is that even a large frame skid steer will have trouble pulling this plow. Maybe a vibratory plow, but I've never seen one for a skid steer. If you have clear soil a trencher attachment works great. If there are too many rocks, step up to a mini excavator.

I need to put 11k feet of 1.5" waterline between 12" deep and 36 deep for livestock troughs. I should have clarified that I was looking for vibratory plows. They make them for the mini walk behind equipment but not a skid steer.

They make them for tractors so I can't see why there would be a problem to use one on a skid steer, maybe traction would be an issue though. If there isn't enough traction you could modify a trencher. This is Australian but maybe you could build something like it. That is just my thoughts.

Even that site states "Mini Machines and Small Skids Steers". Maybe a skidsteer is too strong for most of these and it would break them?

I have the Davis vibratory plow that is self powered.

I also have the vibratory head assembly from a larger vibratory unit.

I see no reason that it can not be adapted to the skidsteer. It is simply pushing instead of pulling.

I also have a 22 in stump grinder/trencher for the front of the Power-Tracs, and does trenches very well.

I also have a Brown trencher blade about 24 in long with carbide teeth at each end with a 1 in hole in the center.

So with a bit in ingenuity and scrounged parts, you could have what you need.

Something like this but work it into your budget.

45.6 CU IN WHITE DT HYD WHEEL MOTOR W/ 5 BOLT HUB

My unit pictured pictured below.

Ii digs/trenches about as fast as you drive.

You could make yourself a good trencher by beefing up the side of a skidsteer bucket and mount a low speed hyd motor with a wheel hub on it.

Then make a round trencher wheel with a couple of carbide tips for the trencher.

Could also rent one of these.

We have a trencher but unfortunately the job specifically states you can not dig or trench for the pipe because they are concerned that the spoils might damage the habitat of the the critters, you can only do direct burial pipe. We would rather build/buy something for our machine rather than rent something and lose the investment. I think I will see what I can find online for a used unit off a large ditch witch or similar machine or maybe someone who builds them to be mounted behind a small bulldozers.

chain / saw trenchers, with 11K feet of pipe to lay, you are sure to hit some tree roots and rocks, that will stop chain to saw trenchers dead in there tracks. requiring a backhoe or excavator to dig up what ya need to get the water lines / electrical in. i would imagine you would end up shearing the "shear bolt" on a notate plow / vibrating plow. getting into some of the bigger rocks / tree roots.

ditch witches = have a chain saw on one side, and other end have a small backhoe with a little blade on bottom to refill trenches.

you should be able to rent the larger machine "ditch witch" at an "equipment rental" place. (look up in the old paper phone book not internet). every now and then one shows up on craigslist as well.
