Digging Horse Graves

Unpleasant situation for everyone I'm sure. Heard a story a few years back where a horse died on a public horse trail in the National Forest. Owner told, you can't leave it there, either bury it off the trail or get it out of there. The area wasn't accessible with machinery, never did hear exactly what they did....

I had to bury a horse for a neighbor that had been dead for about four days in August. With my 580 and I dug about a 8-10' hole until water started causing a problem and used the extendahoe to pull the horse into the hole.

The instant it fell in I bailed from the cab and ran about 50 feet to avoid the plume of death that came out of that hole. Then the guy decided this would be a good time to bury some shingles and dumped them in the hole. Thats a good way to honor a noble animal. I got out of there after that
