Comparison Difrence between 3tn84 and a 3tnv84 engine

I have an excavator with an 3tn84 engine and it needs replaced and I can get an 3tnv84 engine and would like to know the difference.

My little on line research didn't come up with anything to help. I do know the 3tn84 was used on several John Deere tractors and also saw the 3tnv84 used a lot on generators. I suspect you may need to contact Yanmar to get the real answer. Are there any more suffix letters involved?

I know the 3tnv84 was also used in excavators but getting information on letter designations for model numbers has proven to be difficult at best but thanks for the info.

I think the difference is in the pump. IIRC, the "V" stand for variable speed and the other is for a fixed speed operation.

Now that would make sense because if it has an T at the end it means turbo thanks.
