diffrence between tc24d and t30 ? priced same...

what is the major (other than hp and class size) diffrence between the 24d and the 30 ? I was quoted $1500 diffrence between the tc21d and the Tc24d, but the tc30 is almost the same price. Is the tc30 really stripped down ? Does it have a lesser warrenty or made with lower quality parts ?

From what I saw when I was pricing 21 & 24 hp tractors last summer, there was only about a $500 difference between the TC21 and TC24D. So maybe something changed!?!

As for differences between the TC24 and TC30, much of the differences (other than the obvious class/hp) are in updated designs, turning radius, gauges, convenience features, etc. The TC30 is a basic workhorse, available in gear or HST, it is an older design and well proven. The TC24 is the more modern with a load of convenience features. A more logical comparision would be the TC29 versus the TC30. The TC29 comes at a premium price, but gives greater hydraulic capacity, tighter turning radius, and a boatload of ergronomic design & comfort features not available on the TC30.

But don't mistake the TC30 for poorly made. It might be a basic machine, but it is plenty capable of doing hard work.

I would not be afraid of the TC30 at all. A lot of guys have the 30 here and just love it. You can get the TC30 in a Hydro version. But remember, the 30 was made to compete so it doesn't have the bells and whistles on it. With the 30 over the 24 you will have a class 2 tractor instead of a class 1. Better foot print for stability and yes you will have greater horsepower. It's ergonomics isn't as nice but that may be your personal preference.

From a mechanical stand point. It is just as durable and built just as good as the 24 and even the 29/33.

I have told lots of people when looking for the 24D to look at the TC30 as an alternative.

That price difference surprises me. When I was shopping last summer, the difference between the TC21 and TC24 was $300. But that was when the TC18 was still available and the jump from the 18 to the 21 was about $1600. Marketing?

I don't know much about the 30 other than it is still a NH with all the warranties and a proven tractor. I personally had no interest as I have a small piece of property with chores too big for a garden tractor, so I was trying to stay in a smaller class I machine. It's all needs and preference, and a couple thousand $$ one way or the other isn't much over the life of a tractor. That's so much easier to say about someone elses money /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
