Was plowing a steep driveway after a major snowfall overnight. Tractor wouldn't climb the driveway so I engaged the differential lock and very nicely climbed the steep hill. It now appears the differential lock won't disengage as both rear wheels are spinning at the same time. Foot lever is out all the way and the linkage appears to be working. Any suggestions on getting this disengaged. Also this would have been the first time the lock was engaged as the tractor only has just over 100 hours

Tried that..I've plowed about a dozen driveways now with lots of reversing and still no go

Turn the wheel all the way to one side and hit the gas .

If Murph's solution doesn't work, then try shifting out of 4WD into 2WD and then do what Murph suggested, again.
Result may be very jerky/hard to control, so I'd use low revs and some feather on the clutch first time you try it.

Well I got it to disengage...talked to the dealer and they suggested that the problem was probably related to it not being used. I got underneath and lubricated all the pivot points and after several attempts it did come out. I notice the foot lever is still not returning on its own so I suspect it will take some time for the spray lube to work its way through. I have never had any occasion since I bought the tractor to need the diff lock...but I guess from here on in I will engage it every now and then and I'll be sure to keep the linkage well greased. Lesson learned! Thanks guys for the replies

Good job.

Thanks so much for coming back with the fix!
I'll have to check the linkage lube on mine.
I don't use it very often, but when I do I really need it.

I am a firm believer of operating every control on your tractor, truck, or whatever for that matter every 'once in awhile' at least to keep things in operating order. :2cents:
