Branson 2400H
I have a couple of questions. I have been using a 20w hydraulic oil in my Branson 2400 2016 as was recommended by the local NAPA last year when my Hydraulic hose busted and I needed to add more oil. Well being a novice I added this to the system and it has run ok. Of course did not really research this just took the word of NAPA and some mechanics at work.
Fast forward to now. I got a hole in my oil cooler and lost about two quarts this past week. Well after researching i have found out that I need a Branson Origin oil which is comparable to Mobile Fluid 424 30w.
My questions are:
I have I messed anything up? It still runs good (hydraulics)
Should I get the 424 oil, drain the old oil and replace with 424 without changing filter?
change out filter, drain old. and replace with 424?
Just continue running on the 20w oil that is still in there? I did top it off after changing out the oil cooler yesterday.
Thanks for any info

curious as to the hole in the oil cooler. run into something? glad no damage resulted.
personally, i'd drain the system & replace w/recommended factory fluid w/oem filter. regards

OK, lets see what we have here;
A 2016 tractor so 7 years old, and I see it's a hydrostatic drive tractor.
My first question is how often have the hydraulic and transmission filters been changed?

Ignoring that; you should be using a multi-purpose hydraulic transmission fluid meeting or exceeding the manufactures requirements.
Which in my Branson's manual is Texaco TDH oil,
which will cross reference to many transmission/hydraulic fluids;

Not sure where you are located but on my 2400H I had problems using 424 in cold weather. Tranny would whine and blew HST filter once. I switched to a mix of Deere low viscosity Hy Gard and standard Hy Gard. From memory 1 gallon low vis and rest standard hy gard. Been that way for over 750 hrs now with no issues in cold or hot weather.

Hy Gard was very similar in price to the 424.

I think mine is a 2014 or 15.

Figure up the cost of a new transmission and or pump or a new tractor and it all ways makes me wonder why so many people try to save a few dollars while risking the potential loss. They knowingly do it, amazing.
In your case you did not know, but now that you know what you should be using go ahead and change the fluid and filters out as soon as possible.
