Kubota M7040 cab/hyd shuttle - current, Kubota L3400 - traded
Is there much of a difference between these two models? I'm told that the 4410 is the older version of the 3520.

I can find lots information on the 4410 but not much on the 4400. Did JD just rename its lineup or is the 4400 really different from the 4410?

While you are at it, it you have anything good or bad to say about a 4400, please do so. I'm very close to making a deal on a 2000 JD 4400 with 600 hours.

The only thing I'm aware of that the 4410 has over the 4400 would be the eHydro system if the tractor is HST. I don't know much about the 4000 Series, so they may have more different from the 4000 Tens than just the HST system.

I apologize if this is a silly question.

The tractor is Hydostatic in my case. What is the difference between eHydro and plain ol' Hydro?

Some fancy electronics. The plain ol' Hydro uses mechanical linkages to actuate the hydro transmission. The ehydro uses wires. The pedals actuate a potentiometer that sends electrons to the computer. The computer tells the hydro transmission what to do. It provides some operational benefits such as Loadmatch, Motionmatch, a real cruise control and Speedmatch. The ehydro has a different feel than the plain ol' hydro. I believe the 4400 uses a mechanical linkage to engage the 4WD. The 4410 is electronic.

If the 4410 meets your needs and is a good price, I would not be concerned about it not being the ehydro.

Wow. I had now clue how fancy this stuff was.

Sorry, I should have said If the 4400 meets your needs

I hope you read it that way.

Yes the electronics are fancy and I was (am) concerned about their reliability over just mechanical linkages. But I've been told this type has been used on large farm equipment for years on things such as combines where mechanical linkages get jammed up and cleaning/adjustment is difficult.

Time will tell.

Yes. I did read it that way. So long as the mechanical linkages don't take an unreasonable amount effort to use I think I am happier with them. Being an electrical engineer myself I KNOW how painful problems with electronics can be to diagnose.

Not that this type of electronics is unreliable - just hard to diagnose sometimes when things do go rown.

I've got concerns about electronics, too. It seems the electrons hate me, whether on my computer or elsewhere. I know it's a conspiracy and they all talk to each other.

On the other hand, GPS electronics let the serious farmers adjust fertilizers, pesticides, and so on while moving across a field on a computer guided path at a computer decided speed based on data entered regarding last years yield and chemical use. Can the day be far off when all the farmer does is start the tractor and wait for it to come back to the barn empty?

My FIL helped out the guy who rents his land last year. He was able to spend 2 1/2 hours in an air conditioned cab listening to the radio doing what took him 2 or 3 days when he farmed the same ground in the early 50s.

I have a JD 4400 with just under 1500 hours on it and I have already worn the linkage out on my hydro,I have the new parts at hand..IE: my pedals stick and I have to really put my heel into the pedals to get them to go forward ...they push real hard and then they breakover all at once which makes for a very bumpy ride at times..until I get the new linkage on.

You'd be hard pressed to find any 10 series owners who have had ANY problems with the electronics. A snagged control wire, yes. But that is an easy to find break and easily repaired. Far easier than dealing with bent linkages. But that is NOT to say that an 00 is a bad thing, but don't underestimate tha effects of loadmatch, it is simply amazing. Finally, there are lotsa folks who did NOT like the effort required to operate the pedals on the 00 series, the 10s require 70% less effort.

If you get either, consider getting the skid plate set, if you go anywhere near rough ground or brush. Worth every penny.
