I removed the injectors on my 3510 , A1700 engine and found a lot of carbon buildup under 2 of them.
Has anyone seen this before? What needs to be done, are they not sealing properly?

Thoughts?

What did the tips of the injectors look like?

I replaced injectors on my A1100N and just the tip in the combustion chamber had carbon on the. The brass sealing rings prevented any carbon in the injector bore like yours has.

The tip has a dark thin layer on it. It looks like it fits into a brass cup down there. Do you know if those cups need to be replaced to seal around the tip, and could they be put in from the top?

There should be a copper gasket around the tip.
U can buy them as a set, the washers and cup..
It could be the spray pattern of the injectors isn’t to spec and the fuel isn’t getting a clean burn.??

My “cup” is in the head and didn’t come out with the injector, do you know if I can pull it out from the top, put the new one on the injector and screw it down into the head?

Also- do you or anyone else know where I could send the injectors to get them tested? I talked to a local diesel shop and the acted like they didn’t want to mess with it because they didn’t have specs on Branson and said they wouldn’t be able to get parts.

U can use a pick w a small 90* and go they the center of the cup and lift it out..
U may have to scrape some carbon from around the edges..
If u have an air compressor, a good blast of air works too… but will make a mess unless u cover the area with a shop towel..

I can do the injectors for u..
