Howdy,
Not to bring up a older thread, but
The manufacturer is just covering thier bases with a blanket statement about diesel fuel type. I only have access to ULSD here. As you say by the posting earlier, he was able to by LSD (500ppm). There still might be stockpiles of LSD out there which are being sold. Yes, you can contact your supplier and make sure you only receive ULSD. You are a smarter consumer than some out there. Ford would want to deny your 2011 Ford diesel truck too if you ran a bunch of 500ppm stuff and clogged up stuff.
Warranty coverage should not be an issue if you feed it the right type of fuel. That means wether its on road, or off-road (dyed) and is ULSD, then you will not have the catalytic converter issue with any newer TIER 3 or 4 engine. You might have some other warranty claim, but not one involving a clogged converter

"quote from aurora generator fuel oil myths"
"Off-road fuel and red dyed fuel are designed to run on different engines. The sulfur content in red fuel is 500-1000 ppm Your engine and catalytic converter are designed for fuels with less then 10ppm. If you use those fuels, you will deactivate the catalyst and lead to soot clogging of the converter core. We see it all the time. Converters deactivated, over heated engines and exhaust systems glowing red hot from all the soot inside them. Often they catch on fire."

Some here are getting a little testy about a manufacturer warranty. A diesel engine which is broken in (new genset and you run it 20 hours) is most likely to not have an issue. Same thing with a tractor. A new tractor passes by 10, 20, 30 40 50--- hours, and your onward. The regulations are changing. It would be nice to say all off-road diesel is 15ppm world wide. It's not. I really think that if you fed your new generator a bunch of LSD 500ppm and had catalytic converter problems, you are on your own.
