For my fellow board members,

Here is link to a company that sells exhaust gas purifiers for the Kubota engines in thier orange beasts of burden.

Foley Marine & Industrial Engines

they have been in th engine business since 1916 and have exhaust hgas purifiers for kubota engines and many others as well.

Before you call the folks at Foley:

for the Kubota tractor or sub compact utility etc.

First. engine manufacturer, number of cylinders, cubic inches of displacement, engine serial number, injection pump manufacturer, routing of exhaust pipe and muffler-top or underneath the machine etc. etc.,

exhaust pipe diameter!!!

turbo if any, if it is still under warranty etc.

Most if not all installations will be a combination muffler purifier all in one unit.

All the above saves you and the folks answering the phone a lot of work.

These purifiers have been used underground in coal mines since the late 80's. Other than that I don't see need for them unless you running your tractor in a building.

Anyone actually installed one of these on their tractor? I know they put them on construction equipment for all public jobs in Massachusetts. How about the cost??
Thanks

Yeah, I wouldn't mind not choking on fumes some days, like when off and on the machine by the exhaust but at what cost? Somehow I'd expect it to break $1000 with a custom muffler setup.

I couldn't justify that unless I owned a coal mine. Surprise me.

Water bath exhaust gas scrubbers were first required when diesel engines were first used underground almost 6o years ago.

the packed bed oxy catylst (using man made zeolite) is the next type and the honey comb catylst purifiers have been in use for 35 years.

I am unsure of the prices of the exhaust purifiers but getting prices for them is simple due to the need to determine the motor size which must be the first order of business to size it properly.

The small ones are not that expensive especially if you are able to attach them after the oem muffler

Unlike the water bath scrubbers the honeycomb catylist must be run wide open to keep the platinum hot to react and scrub the exhaust gasses free of the crud to get CO2 and water vapor as remnants of oxy-catlyst purification.
