Hi,

Anybody have an idea of what kind of "mileage" the L2800 gets? I mean, of course, about how long you run per gallon at the normal rpms (about 2300?) required to run the pto at 540?

How much fuel you use depends more on the load (torque) on the engine than the engine RPMs. So when asking about how much fuel you would use... you need to specify what you are planning to do (mowing, tilling, blading, etc). At 2300 rpm, your engine could be producing 5hp or 25hp depending on what you are doing with the tractor.

Hi,

Good point.

Mowing with a 5 foot Land Pride 1860 rotary mower.

Nobody wants to hazard a guess?

I pull a 5 ft finish mower at 2300-2400 rpms and 1 hr on the tractor clock at that rpm range uses about 1 gallon of fuel, no more, and maybe slightly less. When I run my hoe, my rpms very from 1700 to 2000 and I would say it gets maybe .75 gal per hour. I started using Power Service in the gray bottle and I did notice quite an improvement. I'm happy with my fuel consumption considering that with my tires loaded, the bare tractor weighs in at about 3100 lbs.

I didn't answer the question because I've never measured actual fuel burn. I fill the tank and it's good for a couple days work. I share the opinion that it's close to 1 gph while mowing and less with loader work and especially the backhoe. In either case fuel burn with the 2800 is very little.

Not sure what the fuel consumption is but I use mine all summer long grading roads moving dirt with the loader and I use less than ten gallons of diesel. Seems like it runs forever on a tank of fuel. Thinking about taking the Kubota to town for groceries it burns less diesel than my F-250 Ford Diesel.

I owned & operated an L2800DT for 76 hr before trading it in on an L3130. Average fuel consumption for the L2800DT was 0.60 gph primarily using the FEL and back blade & running @ 1600-1800 rpm. Didn't have enuf time with the 5' mower to get a meaningful gph; but would expect it to be in the 0.9-1.0 range.

FYI I have a much better data base on the L3130 with 225 hr. Overall average is 0.69 gph and ranges from 0.55 when plowing snow with the back blade to ~1.10 gph when mowing heavy grass with a 6' rough cut rotary mower. Typical consumption when moving dirt/rock with the FEL, pulling a 6' disk or a 5' S-tooth harrow is ~0.65 gph.

I've seen these questions/comments come up from time to time. My attitude has always been...."oh, I'm low on fuel? I guess I'd better fill-er-up" and move on.

Can't say I've ever worried/wondered about consumption per hour

:)

You would if you have to leave the job early to get more fuel....
