I give it gas to go and it does not want to move right away then it is like someone kicked it in the back side and it takes off
Next stop sign I push the peddle and it stayed at idle RPMs.
So I shut it down and it will not start back. It seems to try but never starts
I am thinking
a) bad fuel or pluged fuel filter
or
b) (I hope not) injector / fuel pump

check for water in your fuel.

Does your diesel truck really have a "gas pedal"?:D

It does sound like a water in the fuel problem.

My guess is fuel related.. IE.. either out of fuel, plugged filter.. or water saturated filter / trap.

If your model of diesel truck has an electronic ECU and is a "drive-by-wire" setup, the potentiometer that emulates the foot throttle could be faulty.....

Might be able to help if I knew what it was. Type of truck and engine? If it has a high preasure oil pump might it be a 444E/Powerstroke?

Might also help to know the mileage. At around 60k to 70k the cam position sensors on the Ford Powerstrokes tend to go out, causing symptoms similar to what you describe. Regards, Mike

2004 F250 6.0 powerstroke 55k miles (or lack of power and no strok right now)

Changed the fuel filters ..... They put a big fuel filter that you have to remove with a oil filter wrench inside the frame rail beside a cross member beside the front drive shaft, I now know six new bad words.

Truck started right up told the wife to run it to the end of the road and back.... Well it made it to the end of the road and I had to get my BX and pull it back (what was the tow limit on a bx again? lol)

Anyhow power train is for 100k on it and this train has no power so I am calling the dealer to come get it today

Unfortunately, if any of the solutions that have been suggested turns out to be the problem, the work won't be covered by your 100k powertrain warranty--that only covers engine and tranny. I've had all these problems occur with my 2002, and got to pay for all of them, even though they are very commonly known defects. Of course, mine is the 7.3L. Regards, Mike
