Apologies for injecting this when IMO people tend to overthink s__ that won't affect them. Example: any Governor of California is 'however likely' to ruin the lives of our Brothers and Sisters in New Hampshire any day now.

Be yourself but get real. The World is how it is. Lets grow up or quit quoting media we discredit when we disagree with it! What's going on in your yard?? That's what matters, not whether Caitlin Jenner might run for governor three time zones away.

btw, if 5 1/2 or 6 1/2 million Jews were executed(!) in the Holocaust the accepted 6 million figure is inaccurate. Does that mean that it never happened?? Then don't use that kind of 'logic'.

On Friday I received my annual flu vaccine = normal wee sore area on my shoulder. A friend had is flu shot on Wednesday and proceeded to have a reaction = 'knocked for six' to the point where he had a Covid test, just to be sure.

The result was negative for Covid AND negative for the flu... it was just his body's immune system reacting to the vaccine = the vaccine + his immune system was working correctly, albeit against a benign 'culture'. So, he did but DIDN'T get the flu.

THAT'S what these Covid vaccines are geared to, setting up an antibody defence against the actual 'thing'.

I suppose that's accurate. I grew up before all the New Agey "tolerance at any cost" BS. If someone is risking the health and lives of their fellow Americans by being ignorant and stupid, I have no qualms about shoving their face in it. If that's arrogant, pleased ta meet ya.

That's because John Hopkins gets its numbers from Worldmeter.

As a stand-alone claim, that’s not accurate on at least one count ... and may actually be inaccurate on multiple counts.

First, JH states that they use many sources of data for their dashboard.

Second, the fact that both sites numbers are actually different (although in a similar range) would seem to indicate that they are not necessarily using the same sources.

I've said this for years......we tend to reward irresponsible behavior and punish responsible behavior. Probably not just here, probably happens most places, maybe not N Korea.

I work hard, save money, mind my own business, owned businesses, provided jobs, and I am proud to be a maker, not a taker. (except SSI and I will trade that with anyone with a fed govt pension).

I get very few bennies and I'm not asking for any! Besides all that, if you have anything, you are in the crosshairs of any lawyer looking for a target. If ya got nothing.....you won't get sued.

In too many cases, if you don't work hard, don't save money, don't educate yourself.......you get free health insurance etc etc etc.

Controlling human nature takes carrots and sticks.....who took away the sticks?

Can’t speak to county-level data, but worldometer is reporting roughly the same number of deaths for Texas as the John Hopkins COVID dashboard (51,000+) ... which is a little under 9% of all US COVID deaths.

Larry stated that Texas has 10% of the US deaths - 50- 60 deaths a day when actually the count last week was averaged to 33 per day. That would make the percentage about half of the 10%. Since Texas holds 9% of the the US population - Texas is doing pretty good, better than average, which is just the opposite point that Larry was trying to make. And the State restrictions were lifted in April.

What really makes me cranky is the sign hanging in the window of a business that is a flat out lie. When it says mask are required by recommendations of the CDC (wrong, I'm vaccinated) and by state and local laws (wrong no such laws exist). If they want to require mask just have a sign that mask are required don't start giving false information to try to justify it. It just makes them look ignorant.

By the way, I honor all building's request with signs that require mask. Just don't start with the false information.

I take it that you aren't personally living with symptoms of Covid-19 or have had family/friends suffocate on a ventilator to make such a misleading post like this.
