I was dreading it because of what I read about getting to the oil filter. Turns out my dread was unfounded. I don't know if Kubota changed something but the right engine fairing on mine is formed to allow access to the filter from the outside. I pulled a wiring harness down, put my oil filter wrench in there and took it out no problem. I have the kind that goes on a ratchet extension so you don't need a lot of space around the filter.

I haven't changed the oil on a diesel before and was surprised at how black the oil was after just 58hrs (was a little late on the service). Makes me wonder about the normal 200 hour interval. Is diesel oil normally that black?

Between the tranny filter and pulling the screen, I lost just short of a quart of UDT. No big deal.

John Thomas' writeup on where to find the tranny screen was a big help. I remembered where to look after reading that thread a few months ago.

Oil gets black pretty quick in my diesels.

I haven't checked to see if I can change the filter without removing the cowling as I like to take it off to check things out.

My F3080 has 51 hours on it. I now have to try and find the tranny screen on it.:) Guess I'll change oil and filters on it today.
I usually like doing the service on mine because it helps me understand the mechanics of it a bit.
After doing it myself, I can't see paying to have it done by dealer if one is physically able to do it. Simple, fairly easy and not bad messy.

I'm at 44 hours on my 2360 and getting ready for the 50 hour...actually stopped by the dealer today and was a bit surprised at what I heard. I'm already familiar with the old debate whether to change the tranny fluid or not at 50 hours (haven't made up my mind yet myself), but the dealer didn't even recommend changing the tranny filter or cleaning the screen until past 100 hours. In fact if I'm remembering right, they wait to change the tranny filter / perform screen maintenance until they dump the tranny fluid for the first time, at 300 hours (!). I'm surprised because none of those intervals match the manual - wouldn't that lead to warranty issues? They are a large and active Kubota dealer so I guess they know what they're talking about, but personally I'd prefer to play it safe. Question for everybody: how is the screen looking at 50 hours? Pretty clean or should I expect to see shavings / debris in it?

I had a few specs on my screen... 10 or so. Blasted them off with some carb cleaner and put it back in.

If you do it yourself, you have no proof that it was ever done, so if they wanted to buck it on a warranty claim, I suppose they would have the upper hand.

Last week I did the 50.4 hour service on my 4240. The hydraulic filter was on very tight otherwise it was easy. I put synthetic oil back in the engine.

I also did my 50 (57.1) hour service on my BX2360 this past weekend. My dealer recomended changing the hydraulic oil and and the oil in the front axle as well as the fuel filters. It took a little longer than I expected, but I think I was being overly cautious. There really wasn't much on the trans screen but there were a few nonmetalic bits and "hairs". Can't really explain what they were but they were probably assembly debris. The hardest part of the job for me was removing the factory "twig guard" to get to the rear fuel filter. I don't know who specs the torque on that thing but it should never fall off. The engine oil was very black and I think I will short the schedule and replace it every 50 hours. $20 for the oil and filter isn't too much to pay for the peace of mind I have after changing it. My dealer had no problem with me doing the service but recomended that I use Kubota filters at least while the tractor is under warranty. The trans filter was marked made in Japan but the oil filter was made in- yup, China!:confused2:

Don't forget to change the oil in your MMM. I've been told that little gear box is quite expensive!

Just looked at my manual. It says change oil at 50 hours and then 150 hours of use. Also says change oil seal every 2 years.

Before starting my 51 hour service I read my owners manual for my F3080 to help locate strainer. Manual says clean screen at 200hrs and change only oil, oil filter and trans filter at 50. I'll look for strainer now but probably won't take it off or might but won't feel better or worse if I do or don't.
In the past on other (Kubota) tractors my trans fluid has been fairly clean at 50 and the strainers had very little to no small filings in it.
