Is dewwalt 10 inch table saws any good? I have looking at buying the 10 inch portable unit that is on sale t lowes. I bought a skill 10 inch one about 7 years ago and it wasn't very good. Thanks

Cant say really - I'm generally impressed by DeWalt though. I have a $450 Bosch 4100 which is a great table saw, but yesterday I bought a Ridgid at Home Depot for $199. I used it a little and I like it, I think it's well worth $199, features far exceed the Makita 7203 that I paid $350 for 12 years ago.

Sorry can't help with anything definitive about the DeWalt. $399 on sale for $329 is a pretty good break though.

I bought my Bosh table saw years ago when it was $400. We abused it daily on construction sites and now use it in my shop for making furniture. It works as accurately as most high dollar stationary saws I have used. I would look at the Bosh at Lowes.

Out here in Southern Oregon they are on at least 90% of the residential construction sites I see. I have one and it is a great saw.

If you can afford it, get the fold-up table that goes with the saw. Makes setup, take-down and transport very easy.

some of those dewalt saws don't accept a dado blade if you use one at all.

Dewalt's parent company, Black and Decker's policy, is to not offer any replacement parts whatsoever, when that particular type number becomes 10 years old.

I had this happen to me twice, before I finally learned to buy another brand.

I do have several Milwaukee tools which are more than 10 years old. And, I have no interest in finding out for example, I have to buy another expensive right angle drill, because the switch has failed.

On the other hand, if you are sure you will have used the tool up, and will be ready to dispose of it inside of 10 years, like they assume, of course it doesn't matter. But, a quality tool should last most people more than 10 years.

DeWalt always disappoints me. You can get them everywhere, and they tend to be n the low end of the spectrum for cost, but they never last very long. When looking for a portable table saw, I wasn't very impressed with the two different DeWalt models I saw out there, or any other brand except Bosch. I've had my Bosch ten inch portable table saw for three years now and highly recommend it. Just compare how the stand opens and closes, and how easy it is to move around. Then look at the fence and how easy and accurately it is to adjust. The blades are easy to change and everything about it is well thought out. Of course it was the most expensive one I looked at, but I do this for a living and buying cheap always costs me more in the long run.

Spent most of the summer debating the same question online. Then I went to the store. I didn't like how unstable the portable saws were. So I compared the Delta contractor saw to the Rigid. Finally wound up with the rigid. Because of warranty. First saw wouldn't align but they were easy to deal with gave me a second one and everything was fine. The reviews for both saws say it's a possibility. Wanted something that wouldn't move on me if cutting large or heavy pieces by myself.

I own the DWE 7480 & it is great. Accuracy is incredible for a portable saw. Great power too.

I agree with Eddie. Look at all the saws and compare how easy the fence is to adjust. Check the AMP size of the motor. The higher the AMP number the better motor. Is the saw shaky when deployed for use. Hard to try and hold the saw and get a straight rip on a long board. The on/off switch location, can it be easily reached in an emergency.

there really is not much to a table saw. i would pay more attention to the actual physical top of the table saw and make sure it can not warp or like, and then any sort of slide out mini supports. and then also the "rip fence" make sure it will not easily break if you accidentally drop it, and that you can adjust the tension on it.

went more like with above table saw from master force, with fold up wheels... i wish i went with a different wheel set. dragging the table saw up and down stars when folded up :/ the wheels do not stick out far enough. and end up catching in a few spots. i also have a couple little over steps getting into some doors at shed and house. that get caught up.

overall though. quick and fast to setup, and easy to stabilize it. and it packs away nice in the shed being able to stand it up on its side via the fold up legs/wheels on it.

some folks want dust collectors, and you might want to pay extra attention to that, if that is your goal for placing unit in a shop. some of the units i looked at a few years back. just had ugly collectors on them.

90% of time i do not have the guard on the table saw blade. due to ripping stuff to small, or just the right size to get hung up in the guard. some of the setups the guard is just down right pain in rear to use, if ya lift it up and out by accident, you may have to spend a few minutes putting it back in. or how you adjust the guard is just plain one of those what in the world were they thinking?

=============
it would of been nice to have a 12 inch blade. but costs, motor size / amps, ya start getting limited.

datto blades, if ya into making furniture and like, and want different joints. double check how wide you can insert a datto blade set..

i tend to always end up needing a pusher stick. to push things rest of the way through table saw. i could care less about "storage" of the table saw and some plastic pusher stick that looks all nice on the table saw in storage, but rather, some sort of U shape half pipe or like i could toss a stick into, for easy grabbing. i have a large light weight tool box i toss most stuff into, for table saw, when put into storage.

Current issue of Fine Homebuilding has an article about the Bosch and Dewalt's. I have a Dewalt portable I bought back around 97 or 98. I am not a contractor but have used the saw while working on several properties including farms. Read that as used hard and put up wet. Though I am mainly a Milwaukee and Bosch fan, I have no major complaints about the Dewault. Even dated, mine has the geared adjustment on the fence which I have found to be excellant.

I have the smaller Dewalt portable saw and for knock about job site use has been very satisfactory. No way does it compare to my shop Powermatic 66 table saw but the Dewalt has given good service and doesn't mind being rained on occasionally.
The miter gauge is kina funky but that's what chop saws are for.

I have this Dewalt and use it a lot. Very good saw and light to carry.
I did not buy the stand , I always install it on my two sawhorses with half a sheet of plywood and it works fine for me.

I have a semi portable Grizzly table saw that looks like it would mount on that Bosch stand. I don't like the caster wheel stand my saw is on, I like the wheel barrow style better.

No experience with portable table saws as I have a fairly large stationary saw. I do have a portable panel saw that works great for portability. A regular circular saw mounts on a square piece of steel that slides down two extruded rails. It cross cuts up to 48 inches and you can turn the steel plate 90 degrees, lock it down and feed sheets thru it. The legs fold together and it leans against the wall taking up maybe 8 inches of room. I made some saw horses the same height to help with 4x8 sheets.

I take it and a generator to spots with no electricity and can make just about any type of cut.

Just another option if you ever see one. Mine was second hand for like 60 bucks. One of my favorite tools.
