Deutz Allis 5215 questions

I am the proud owner of a 1989 5215 with 1700 hours. I love this thing. It has a 60 inch belly mower on it but I have a few questions.

#1. I am doing a full service on my deck which at this point has evolved into me fully stripping it down and repainting it ect, I am going to change the gear lube in the gear box. Do i use the standard 90w gear lube?

#2. What oil should I run in the engine? I need to buy the service manual but thats not gonna happen immediately, I assume its 15w40 but I will defer to people who probably have more experience with the machine.

#3. I am getting ready to swap the glow plugs which appears strait forward (i have done them on other machines before) but any tips are welcome.

I actually stumbled onto it accidently, I am in fact the second owner of the machine and the previous owners took amazing care of it. I used to work at an equipment dealership in college so I am pretty handy, but i have never worked on once of these. So any feedback is welcome.

While this won't answer any of these questions, you may find this helpful in the future. Parts diagrams can sometimes be the next best thing to a serice manual AGCO Parts Books enter the site as guest user then enter the model number. I think you will also find the Allis Chalmers 5015 to be almost identical mechanically.

Our church owns a 5020, the model prior to the 5220 and a little larger in HP and size to your unit. They were made by Hinimoto and were very reliable machines. We still use ours and with over 2800 hours only has had a water pump replaced. We went ahead and replaced the fan belt and hose at the time. We use Rotella each spring and it still to this day uses very little oil. They are excellent machines.
