Detroit Refueled?

Yeah, but hundreds of thousands or blue and white collar workers who once fueled the middle class economy have been reduced to lower class citizens and taxpayers. That means no more affordable mortgages, no more auto company subsidizing of the health care industry, no more high end college educations for their kids, no more high property tax payments to do-nothing local governments, no more United Fund support, no more affordable recreational vehicle and boating industry and even no more trial lawyer judgments against the auto companies. The domestics contributed dozens of billions of dollars per month to all this trickle down economic welfare.

Should I also mention that in the NEXT world war, we'll have to buy guns, ammunition, tanks, planes, missles, GPS, helicopters, and even food supplies from the country(s) we are fighting? Tool & Die workers will be so scarce, they'll be too hard to fit into any substantial manufacturing rush.

And we know who to thank for all this, don't we !!!!!

What's in your garage and where did the money go after that?

I thought it was an uplifting article. Given a choice with equal quality and cost, I think most of us would prefer to buy an American product.

I think it's been a wakeup call for the automakers the last few years....now it's a do or die. Ford is reaping the benefits of not accepting bailout money, and it seems they're improving the product line and spending some good money on R&D. Still a few years behind Europe with with high MPG vehicles but now they see the light...

I think the days of extended conventional warfare and a WW3 are gone, so mass production of any war machines is no more. JMHO......

I just left NW Detroit in May and truly hope it does become revitalized in the next several years.
