Was looking thru a JD flyer I got recently and saw a pic of an Orbital type (like Optima or the Exide Orbital Select) JD Strongbox battery...searched it and sure enough, looks like it exists:
Batteries : Spiral Energy™

Dunno what sizes they have in the "Sprial Energy" series, but it might be an option for those people who are getting their batteries covered under warranty....

They also have a Strongbox AGM series:

hopefully better than the regular strong box batteries.

I have had all 3 of the 3 strong box batteries I purchased, die within a year.
I don't think I will try another, unless it was on warranty.

Preciesly why I posted...if you can get one under warranty...might as well pay a few bucks to upgrade rather then only get the core value..

Knock on wood, I havent had any problems with any of mine....I'm keenly watching the one in the 3520. I almost have to wonder if its an issue with the particular size/model/type used on the compacts, its a well documented issue here on TBN.

I know on the farm we havent bought a better replacement battery then a strongbox...for heavy duty use, the best batteries we've ever used are Caterpillar & JD branded batteries....PLUS...another thing to consider is there are various types of "strongbox" batteries...

BTW...Deere batteries are built by Jonson Controls....
John Deere Recognizes Johnson Controls for Outstanding Performance

Guess who makes Optima?
Johnson Controls Inc. | Spiral Cell

So what you're getting is a Optima battery with JD Stickers, under warranty...

Funny, I just noticed there is also a thread (today) on Optimas in this same forum. Must be battery season ;)

The OEM strong box in my 3720 died in about 1 year. Maybe it was 2, can't recall.

I replaced both batteries in my 2355 with strong box units. One lost a cell within about 9 months and took out the second battery with it.

I used a desulfator on the old batteries that I replaced (fortunately I still had them) and put those back in the 2355. They are still working and must be 10 years old now, but I have to put a charger on them if the tractor sets more than a week. I have a huge 1500 amp DieHard platnum deep cycle job that I am thinking of using in there instead of the dual batteries. If I could lift it into place...
