Getting the 455 and MC519 out and ready to go and I thought I would ask some other owners their options on blades. I have the 60" deck on my 455 and was wondering if anyone has experimented with blades and what type work best with the blower and the MC519. I'm using the standard blades, but I know there are mulch blades and was wondering if they might cut the grease finer to prevent clogs. But the standard might through the grass better to the blower. Just curious what other people are doing.

Also, has anyone tried to spray teflon in the shoot and blower to see if it helps prevent clogs?

Thanks,
Scott

I use the standard blades and have only had two clogs in the last three years. I don't see where cutting the clippings finer would make a difference, if you load up too much wet grass it can plug. Cutting the clippings real fine might cause more air restrictions in the cart, something to consider.

I have a 425 with the 54" deck. I use standard blades when I am bagging and gator blades the rest of the time. I do most of my bagging in the fall. For leaves the gators do cut everything finer but I get more blow out from the front right of the deck. For grass blow out doesn't bother me so the gator blades are fine. I just did my first mow this week and the inside of the chute was coated in green mud. I doubt anything is going to stop that. I think some dealers recommend high lift blades for max air flow when bagging.

Cutting the clippings finer will release more moisture which can cause more problems with clogs.
