Deere LX266 engine model number

Hi Folks!

I have a Deere LX266 lawn tractor that needs rings and the Kohler model sticker is gone, so I'm trying to find out what model engine I have so that I can order the correct parts. So far, I found that it is a CV series engine (16HP) and there were two models produced for that tractor. One is CV16 43418 and the other is CV 16 43526. The only identifying stickers on the engine are model PS26511 and a serial of 3303403733. I assume these are Deere numbers. Can anyone tell me which engine I have based on this information? This is going to be a winter project. Thanks in advance!

Have you tried looking at Deere parts website. They might tell you based on tractor serial number.

What is the tractor serial number.. xx out the last three digits. Tractor data says the LX266 was made in 2001 - 2003

Thanks for this information. The serial number of the tractor without the last three digits is MOL266BO74. I think I've got it nailed down, but welcome continued input.

A quick tip if you haven't torn it down yet, oil burning on these is more likely to be a head gasket. Though she does have a few years on her.

Hello!

Thanks very much for this information. It would be great if that's what is causing the burning. Beats a complete tear down! Engine has 561 hours and uses absolutely no oil. I use Mobil1 10W30 and change the oil every fall. Always been a great mower.

You bet. If there's no fuel dilution of the oil, I'd pull the head first.
