Does the payment period begin when a unit is ordered or when it is delivered?

As a general rule, NEVER make payments before you take delivery of any tractor. You can also tailor your payment to start at the beginning, middle or end of the month to best fit your budget. You can also make balloon payments (usually once a year) if you want lower monthly payments, that's what I do. Good luck!

Delivered. My recent X739 order took over 3 weeks to be delivered and then my first payment was about a month later.

ditto on my 5083E. I obviously had to go pick up the machine from the dealership.

Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like it's after delivery then the standard type arrangements for payment options (whatever time of the month begining with the next month). I'm trying to plan for next spring and I'm allowing 5 weeks for the delivery.

After ordering, I waited for delivery for weeks, then had my tractor for weeks without one peep or paper saying "Send us money" "to this address". I started to wonder, gee did I fall through the cracks? Whoo-hoo! Free tractor! Err no! Never so lucky. After ordering and down payment in March, delivery in early April, it wasn't until June 1st that they wanted money.
Go to JDFinancial (Buying and Financing John*Deere Products and Services)and set up an account (don't forget your password and account #'s) You can then see a lot of information.

Just like any vehicle, after delivery and paper work is signed. Typically 30 to 45 days after delivery is the first payment.

Think you have your answer. My dealer said 1 month after delivery.

Definitely after delivery. I had to wait several month before I got mine. Dealer was nice enough to let me pick any loaner I wanted off his used lot while I waited. No charge and a full tank of fuel to boot. I had to pick it up and bring it back using my own trailer, but I was not complaining!
