Over the last year my 4410 has developed a hydraulic leak where the mid section bolts to the rear case of the transmission, just above and to the right of the suction screen. Lately the leak has gotten worse, plus with the tractor getting a backhoe subframe installed recently it acts as a catch pan and leaves trails of oil whenever I’m operating on an incline. So nonetheless it’s time to address the leak.
To simplify things I removed the loader and began disassembly.
Started with the seat and the plastic pan below it. The seat and base is heavy and awkward, I recommend having help to get it off and back on the tractor later since the fenders and steering wheel are in the way. The hardest part honestly about the seat pan below is getting the knobs off the 3 point and if equipped the 3rd scv lever.
Next up is the floorboard and left side fender. The manual says to remove the rear tires to remove the fenders but I was able to do it with the tires on. Ultimately the rear tires have to come off but wrestling with loaded rear tires isn’t terribly fun by yourself. At this stage I opted to jumper the seat switch and drove the tractor out of the shop to wash the dirt off of the transmission to keep everything clean for disassembly / reassembly.
The next steps are removing the loader hard lines and 3rd valve scv lines, right side fender, rolling the wiring back to the front half of the tractor, disconnecting the brake rods, removing the suction line and main hydraulic feed line from the pump to the scv valve, and the supports for the floor pan. It sounds like a lot but all of this was relatively easy.
Finally you’ll remove the hard lines, pilot line, and filter from the hydrostat and you’ll be about ready to split the tractor at the front section of the mid case.
This is where I stopped for the evening, planning to split the tractor today. More to come soon.
