Deere and others file suit against New Hampshire dealer law

Hiya,

Heard this on NHPR on the way home, Deere and other makers have filed suit challenging a recent change to the "Dealer bill of rights" law that was passed and signed into law in June. According to the radio, Deere and others are protesting that the law prevents them from exercising the level of control they desire over franchisees.

Seems to me that they sense a threat to their forced consolidation policy they have been ramming down the throat of smaller dealers like R.N.Johnson.

we've been working for years to get this passed in PA as well. Its been an uphill battle against Deere. Its hard for the dealer body to compete with their deep pockets.

Not just the manufacturers getting special treatment. We could all be ordering our cars online and having them delivered to the driveway for rock bottom pricing if not for the dealer lobby.

Yeah, especially when you get a lemon and the dealer says to take it up with the manufacturer.

A local Agway store lost it's Deere franchise as a result of consolidation I gathered. They focused on lawn tractors primarily up to the 1000 series.

That hurt a local business and their customers.

I'm thankful Maine government has implemented a strong Lemon Law. Keeps dealers (more) honest.
