Deere 850D now has clutch cover?

My 2008 850D has cover over the clutchs and drive belt. I gather the 2007 models don't. I haven't seen a 650 up close to tell if the new 850 cover is just like the 650, but there's something there on the new year's model.

Has anyone who is more familiar with the 650's seen a new 850?

My 2007 850D has a plastic half shield around the clutch but it is not a full enclosure like the one available on the gas model.

i looked it up and i coudn't find anything other than a half gaurd.but if they do come out with one the sales of the gas units will drop.

I went to my dealer and they couldn't find it listed. They had an 08 and it only had the bottom shell.
The diesel engine is mounted on rubber mounts,an enclosure would need to be made out of some type of flexible material to move with the engine.

Hayden could you post a picture of your enclosure?

I just have the "bottom shell" as you describe it. The top is open. Sorry for the false hope. I haven't seen the cover on a 650 so I wan't sure what I was comparing against. I take it the 650 cover goes up and over the top as well as the bottom? It's too dark now for a picture, but I'll try to remember to take one tomorrow.

I've been waiting for the full enclosure on the diesel.
I have the 620i and the clutch is fully enclosed. The problem with the 620i is the starter is open. It fills with trash when going in mud.
The diesel starter is sealed plus the diesel has more torque.

they should be able to make one if they would put their mind to it. if it was me i would make it in two pieces and conect them with acordian boot that will alow both pieces to flex. i made plenty of exhaust for deisel engines and used flex pipe to connect them to the motor and the frame. all i need is a donor unit and i could make it. fab them both out of sheet metal and braze them together with the flex pipe in the middle.
