I'm looking at a Deere 4005, seems to run well, everything works, 1200 hrs. But crawling under it it obviously took a shot to the underside at some time - oil pan is dented (gasket leaking as well), and the shaft for the front drive seems to be leaking at the seal on the trans (rear of shaft). Also the rear dipstick (next to the 3pt) shows no fluid.
On the one hand everything (loader, 3pt, gear trans) seems to work smoothly, no weird noises. On the other there seems a reasonable chance I fill the differential and get a gusher out of that MFWD seal.
What's entailed in replacing that (assuming there's no fluid in it :laughing
? Is this a push in seal and a snap ring, or something I have to do major repairs on? Mostly trying to price that in to the purchase.
Thanks
Steve
