How do u guys clean the screen? What type of solvent? The manual says to clean it but doesn't say what type of cleaner to use? I was planning on using diesel..
What's in the screen should be just metal filings. In my 2210 there is a magnet in there I just wipe off the filings with a rag. The screen too, wipe it out as best you can. I don't recall ever having anything in the screen itself, the crap is all usually stuck to the magnet. I don't see any reason to get too fussy with the screen, I just figure it's there just to get the big stuff and the filter gets the rest. I've done the screen clean and filter change 3 times now on my tractor.
Guys how in the world do you pull off that screen cover.. I followed a previous thread and took the too three bolts off the tube above the rear tire and the rubber hose came off easy... Now all I have to do is pull off the screen cover... Took the one nut off and supposedly only a few orings hold that thing in place.. What do you guys use to pry that thing off?? Seems like you need to out a screw driver or putty knife under the edge to get that thing up?? I tried pulling that thing off for like ten minutes straight and was getting very frustrated to say the least
Try tapping the edge with a small hammer? It does stick a little bit even once you get the hose off. I have never had to do any more than remove the retaining bolt and hose clamps. I pivot the hose out of the way and pop the screen cover off. Hopefully you have cleaned all the grass and dirt that sits above it or otherwise any debris like to drop right into the housing!
Thx for the reply... Yeah I hit all areas around that cover and trans filter with air and then sprayed it about 3 separate times with engine degreaser...I'll try tapping it with a rubber mallet around the edges... That SOB is in their tight!!!
