Deere X500, LS XR3135
Hi all!

I now have 13 acres and a new house on it. I want to work the land a bit and get about 4 acres of lawn/garden/range and in the 9 wooded acres put in a couple trails. In the long run, I will likely harvest apples from a couple dozen trees on the property, and firewood.

Currently I'm looking at the Deere 2032R and the LS XR3135. My anticipated attachments in the short term are a box scraper with scarifiers, landscaping rake, pallet forks, rotary cutter, and snow plow.

The forks are mostly for wood handling, as I use an outdoor woodburning boiler.

How do these two tractors stack up? They are very comparable in price with current rebates.

Some of the LS things i like are the rear controls for the 3PH and the rear hydraulics if I ever need them. I also like that the front end loader arms are more industry standard.

Some of the Deere things I like are reputation, quick attach rear attachments, and honestly, the green paint has some appeal. My X500 has been utterly reliable for almost 10 years.

Any thoughts, considerations, etc?

I have about 100 hours on my Deere 2032R. Once all the bugs were worked out, I am very happy with it. Bush hogging, moving branches and old trees, moving dirt. Recently got some bolt-on forks - very handy for moving things.

FWIW: with water in back tires, the forks lift 900 lbs. Not too bad.

Be sure you get the "off road" tires - forget what they are called.

These are two different size categories. The LS being the larger more featured tractor.

When I was shopping in 2013, the Deere 2032R was at the top of my list. Availability caused me to look beyond.

I ended up with an LS R3039R which is the same size category as the XR3135.

I have 5 acres and am very happy I went bigger. And, I got the LS for the same price and got an extra attachment to boot.

I don't think you can go wrong with the LS, provided the dealer is good.

Price is close because you are comparing 2 different size tractors. I think you need to compare to the 3 series if you want to get an accurate comparison. LS is a far more tractor for your money. ( From a former John Deere owner)

I would seriously look at the Kioti tractor equal before you make a decision. A friend just bought a Kioti CK2610. What a great machine it is. The shifter, and transmission is so perfect, and knotchy it reminds me of a Ferrari that another friend's father had, and I got to ride in just once. The front end loader is outstandingly extremely well built, with heavy steel. The hood and fenders are steel also. A real plus in this plastic, and fiberglass tractor world we seem to be into now. Also take a look at the heavy duty 4WD front axle design and construction. Just a thought....

Thank you for all the suggestions!

I ended up going with the LS XR3135. I got the rotary cutters, box scraper, rear blade, landscaping rake, front loader with bucket, and pallet forks. The dealer also threw in a subsoiler.

It all comes on a big truck and trailer tomorrow. =)

It should be pointed out I got all the above for the same price as a Deere 2032 with loader only. World of difference on the pricing here.
