Hi folks.. I have, perhaps, a head scratcher here.

I just took the backhoe off my 110tlb for the first time. I tried to move the hitch arms and they didn't. I didn't hear any hydraulics attempting to move either.
Puzzled, I hopped off and discovered I can move them freely by hand. There is clearly nothing hooked up behind the lift arms. I can just hear what sounds like a metal rod clanking around when I move them up and down.

Is this normal? Is there something I am supposed to do? I spent some time in the manual.. but I am getting the distinct feeling that something isn't right in the land of Oz here.

Thanks!

Yes you need to plug in your power beyond loop. I'm not 100% sure where it plugs into on the 110. I'm sure Steve,ak or martian will chime in and disclose it's location.

Can you post a picture of the rear of your tractor?

GreatWhite: Thanks, I did do that. Though with some of the silly problems I have had (caused by not seeing the forest for the trees!), it was a pretty reasonable suggestion!

Jenk:Thank you also. Here are some pictures and (maybe) a video. All the linkages and everything I expect are present. The rockshaft level is present and hooked up. What I am wondering is if I can remove the anchor point for the drag link off and see what's going on.

OK.. I can't upload the video.. but picture me grabbing the lift links and raising them by hand (with no effort) and they falling right back down. The part that makes me nervous is the "clanking" coming from within.

There is also a micro switch that the hoe frame contacts when mounted telling the unit hoe is installed. I want to say lower lh side mounted to tractor side, usually was only stuck shut when removing in icy cold conditions but since has not been removed may be stuck.

Ctlguy: Just curious if you know what the switch actually does? I haven't noticed any different behavior in the tractor with the backhoe off. Hopefully today I'll have a chance to test the switch.

If I recall it just tells the tractor that the hoe is mounted, I can not say 100% but I believe if stuck in the depressed position the three point will not function. I do not recall if normally open or closed switch. It has changed also from a micro switch to a switch similar to a lawn mower seat switch. The parts catalog technical description was backhoe presence switch.

ctlguy is correct, if the switch isn't working the 3 point wont work. Is your switch a lever arm, or a plunger? I can tell you how to check it if I know which one it is.

Sorry on the slow reply here. Along with the tractor my computer developed some problems of significance. Such is life somedays!

It appears that my switch is questionable. It is the issue for sure, but it is in the "kinda works" stages. My guess is because the hoe has never been off the machine.
I opened the connector and with the locking tab UP when facing me the right 2 pins had continuity. I actuated the switch and nothing changed. So I actuated it a couple times the continuity changed to the outer 2 most pins. Once this occured I plugged it back in and the 3pt worked correctly.

This is a cute trick that Deere plays. But I think in my future is a waterproof switch that clearly states "3pt" on one side "backhoe" on the other.

Thanks again for the help guys!!
