Hi! Love my LTX1050 - it cuts like a dream come true.

But I have noticed something: The deck lift lever seems to have a very limited effective range.

1. At the highest setting, the deck isn't up as far as it can go, leaving me with shorter grass than I'd like.

2. At any setting from 7 on down, the deck is resting on the ground.

So I figure it just needs adjustment. There is nothing in the manual about this particular thing. The deck is level side to side and front to rear. I just need the full range of heights it is capable of. How can I adjust it? Seems like some "new cable stretch" is in there somewhere.

Thanks!

1. First off, chk/adj all 4 tire's PSI to spec, matched side to side and OEM sizes.
2. Place tractor on a FLAT surface.
3. verify deck is attached to tractor per manual instructions.
4. Distance from blade tip bottom edge to ground s/b adjustable via the height lever from around 1" to 4 1/2". Make sure that deck anti-scalp wheels are are not limiting the adjustment range.
5. When your preferred grass cutting height is selected, then adjust the deck anti-scalp wheels so that they are 1/2" above that same flat surface as above.

If above is not doable, time to contact dealer for prob correction.

I went out and took a good look at what you said. I think I will set my anti-scalps in a different hole and try that, but there is more.

Everybody;
When the lift lever is at the highest setting, there is still a good 4-5" clearance between the deck and tractor body.

Does anybody think this is a cable problem? How can I adjust? I'm totally new to this class of machine; this is my very first; please forgive my newb ignorance. I'm thinking this is such a simple thing that you guys are assuming I know this part already. I'm sure when I figure it out it will be a "duh" moment for me. :D

Thanks!

this parts diagram may help you in determining what is off. Note that the two lift cables pin thru the lower holes of the lift arm..

Here is what I found to work on this model Lawn Tractor. Hope it helps others as well.

Who ever set this unit up [ most likely an under trained employee @ Home Depot] they used the WRONG mounting holes to attach the cables for raising and lowering the rear of the deck. The pins on mine where in the center hole location of the BLACK brackets coming off the rear of the deck pointing towrd the rear of the tractor. This meant I had less than 1/2 of the factory UP/DOWN cutting height adjustment available to me. I changed the lift pins on each side to the 3rd locator hole [lowest one closest to the ground] and put the lock clips back in place. {the one on the passenger side was hardest to get back in] and now I have FULL adjustment of cutting height. Hope this helps someone else. EASY 10 minute FIX!!

Thanks! Don't mind the zombie thread, I'm actually still interested in this.

To date, my LTX1050 has been broken more than it's been in service. I'm awaiting delivery of it from the shop as we speak. Just in time for the warranty to expire this month.

I thought Cub Cadets were supposed to be good?

I just got my LTX1050 and seem to have a similar issue. First thing I though of was the lift cables. Unfortunetely, that's not my problem on this machine and I haven't figured it out yet. But, I did have a similar problem on my dad's LT1024 that I completely missed. The lift cables had fallen off the pulleys and were riding on the pulley mounting pins.
