NH TC40
I've checked out a number of tractors, new and used, and a number of dealers. I've got to make a decision very soon if I want to take advantage of the current NH incentives and so, would appreciate any thoughts on what looks to be the best candidate. Based on used NH tractor deals I've come across, NH tractors hold their value and I'm leaning towards buying new. So, what do you think of a price $18,900 for a TC40 with: 16LA FEL w/72" bucket; folding ROPS; block heater; rear wheel weights; not including taxes/fees? Every NH I've tried (with a bit more testing on TC40D, TC33D and TC30) has only made a decision more difficult!

Your price is a very competitive price, I just went thru the same decision making process. It came down to the TC40 or the TC35D priced virtually the same. I've had many gear tractors and the 12/12 shuttle is a nice one as well as the 4th cylinder in the 40. I've never had a hydro and the 35D is hydro and "D" package. I went with the TC35D to give the hydro a shot. All in all I think the TC series has the most bang for the buck amongst the big 3 right now and 3 year 0% is icing on the cake. Good luck with your decision.
PS I talked to 4 dealers. 20% price difference from high to low. One said the 35D was underpowered the other 3 said the opposite.

Go hydro... get either a 33d or a 40d skip the 35. The 35 is just a hopped up 33 on a larger frame. The 40 has 4 cyl and is more suited for the larger frame.

If you go to this thread , you will find a spreadsheet for 38-40hp shuttleshifts that I priced in late nov/early dec in the WashingtonDC area. Please note that I asked for some options to be included. Your price for the TC40 sounds about right.
I ended up with a slightly used (31hours) TC40D that I am VERY happy with - the HST is nicer and more useful than I thought it would be. The price was lower than new TC40's and had all the "D" niceties: deluxe 3pt, HST, folding rops, swivel seat, lites, cupholder, etc. If you get the TC40, see if you can get the dealer to throw in the deluxe 3pt hitch - it makes hooking up implements much nicer.
I would recommend the EZ Weights systems over the factory weights - easier to add and subtract weight and less $.

Bluen: I've added a rather extensive review on the TC40 - should be up and viewable within day or two (unless Muhamad censors it). JEH

Mark,

Thanks for the spreadsheet and advice on deluxe hitch and wheel weights. I got the deluxe hitch included in the price and the wheel weights were already an aftermarket variety (out of Texas but I don't know the company name) to reduce the cost. I tried, at another dealer, to negociate a TC40D as well (with about 5 months warrently left). I just couldn't get the price low enough - there was almost no difference versus the TC40 new. Though I'd prefer to move to the hydro, I'm at the limit (or maybe beyond it!) I want to spend. Given that I'm doing mostly pasture work and have experience with a mechanical transmission tractor. I feel fairly comfortable with the 12x12.

Mark: the 12 & 12 is real nice and very user friendly, you still have the mechanical shuttle on the left of the strng column which is real easy to use. Its a great tractor-keep us posted..

Don....I have the TC40D. My advice is to go for the 40. The 4 cyl will make all the difference. If your already a shift man you won't miss the hydro. And you got a good price there. Good luck!
