Does anyone have a general idea of the markup on NH compact tractors in the Northeast? Examples would be the TC series from the 23 through 45.

It seems to be a well-kept secret on tractor markup, unlike Edmunds.com or Kelly Blue Book where you can find the invoice price, sticker price and true market value of cars.

Sounds like a good opportunity to create a website listing all the sticker prices and invoice prices for tractors and equipment. A lot of work, though.

Thanks in advance everyone.

its impossible to put a number to it. Some people try to figure a % off list price.. thats pointless. I am a dealer and I don't ever figure out what list is. The programs they put on these makes make it really hard to know your margin without penciling it out. A tractor that shipped to us 6 months ago costs a different amount than the one that shipped this month. One machine takes an hour in the shop to get ready, the next takes a day and a half. There is no good way to know, the best thing to do is just shop around whoever is local to you and buy where you feel most comfortable.

Good answer from Messick..
And for cars, the dealer has all kinds of 'behind-the-scenes' deals that allow them to sell below their listed invoice price. Gotta just know they are not gonna let you (John Q public) know their business. And the truth be known, I don't think it is any of our business what the dealer is doing to make his business successful. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Our business (at least mine) is to get a price and decide if that is what we want to pay. Has little to do with what the dealer is putting in his pocket, IMO. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I just hope the dealer is smart and has it figured out for him to stay in business, and one of his calculations is to be competitive with his competition.
In short, I don't believe in publishing tractor invoice information. It's a gimmick at best. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

When I was talking with my dealer about the deal on my A-plan DX-29, he (one of the owners) said they usually make about $1200 on the tractor. A-plan gives him 6% of the price of my tractor as a credit on his next order. He said he'd happily sell everything in the store at a 6% profit, so it varies from item to item depending on what the traffic will bear.

I didn't really shop this deal since there was so much complexity in it to go along with A-plan rules, but FWIW, I paid around 15k after getting 4500 for my old B7100. The package I got included FEL, QA front bucket, 1 set of rear remotes and valve, plumbing to the front of the loader from the rear control valve including 2 more sets of QCs, a grapple, and Ag tires. I know the grapple and associated plumbing for the rear remote came to $1100 since I paid that outside the overall deal, bringing the tractor/loader down to about 14,000 including the trade.

I might have done better by working with the other local Case dealer and/or the two NH dealers in the area, but this was an unusual deal since my daughter is the actual purchaser and is keeping her tractor at my place for my grandson to enjoy when they come to visit. She lives in a different marketing zone, a different state even, so he had to do some work to make the A-plan fit. I pay her, she pays NH, and I get to use her tractor whenever I need/want to. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good information folks, thank you.

Now...what would be the approximate cost of a TC40, gear-driven 12 x 12, no super steer, 16LA loader and a 757C backhoe go for? Just an approximate number would be satisfactory.

Just trying to get a ballpark number before driving to different dealers and haggling with them.
