Im considering buying a NH tractor and want about 5 pto attachments.

How much should I pay for the lot(below book price) if Im buying the tractor too?

Is there any suggested percentage below the "book" price I should consider? Is their Gearmore price book MSRP???

I know they are making money off the tractor, I think they could discount ordered PTO accessories but don't know what the margin or potential amount of the discount should be.

I was considering 15 to 20 percent below their "book" price........I still think they would be making money and since they are all parts that are ordered, its not taking from their inventory?

Any suggestions or experiences???

Digging through old posts here but I see you didn't get an answer so I'll add my experiences with my local Kubota dealer.

Every time I get a tractor I stock up on whatever implements I need and bundle them in with the Kubota 0% financing. Kubota Canada will finance non-Kubota items up to 25% of the value of the loan. If need be, the dealer can juggle the prices a bit so that he bills you a little more for the tractor and a bit less for the implements to fit things into the 25% arrangement.

As far as a discount goes, I get ~15-20% off the "regular" price, which as you probably know depends on each dealer and how hard they want to sell you something. I'd expect no less than 10% off the normal price. To find that out, ask your dealer how much each is and don't mention that you want them bundled with the sale. Then call another local dealer or, if they have protected sales areas, call outside your area and get a price. Some franchise agreements won't allow them to compete on price if you're in another dealer's area, so they'll probably have to quote you MSRP. That'll at least give you a bit of knowledge about how much your local fellow has already discounted things before you start putting conditions on the sale of the tractor.

If another dealer (might require a change of paint on your tractor) will dicker on implements and another won't, the money you save on them might make a brand choice easier. Make sure you tell the dealer if you're paying cash for the implements or if you want them to try and bundle them into the financing. That might make a difference if you've got some $$$ to play with.

Socalfarmer, are you buying from Pauly Equipment? As far as the Gearmore implements, shop around, they don't have protected selling areas. You will find that all the dealers in Calif sell Gearmore. If you can wait, go to the farm show in Tulare in Feb and Gearmore and many other implement manufactures are there and you can get a deal there' They don't want to have to haul them back to their yards. You just have to be able to pick up the implement on the afternoon of the last day of the show. (Thursday)
Good luck.;)
