I think I have stumbled across a deal on 55w 4" x 6" halogen lights if anyone's interested. These lights are the same as Spence has pictured in his thread on lights for his tractor. They have a switch right on the housing so you don't have to buy and wire switches yet you can have as many on or off as you wish. I believe I can get flood, trapezoid or spot beams but I have to buy them in lots of six each. Since I probably don't necessarily need that many of each style for my tractor (unless I'm pulling a PTO generator), I thought I'd see if anyone was interested in splitting some boxes. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

These are from the same OEM as supplies Hew Holland and are, in fact, the exact same lamps in factory bubble packs. They retail around $30 each and I'll be buying them at an average of $20 or a little less per lamp and believe I can order as many boxes as I want. I'll be happy to order as many as anyone wants here. I'm in no great rush but intend to make my order one week from today just to allow time for everyone to read this.

Let me know if you're interested. I'll handle this on a first come, first served basis if I end up with a situatation of having to order another 6 lights to get 1 we need. /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif If it's going to leave me with just a couple extras, I'll keep those around as I can put them on a truck sometime.

Gary, which style where you planning to buy for yourself?

Gary,
I'll take a pair of floods, or trapezoids off your hands.
Email me the details.
Thanks, Ken

I'd like a pair of the floods. Send me an e-mail and a check will be forthcoming.

Gary,
I wouldn't mind having a couple of Floods myself. But I have to wonder about final cost verse's actual savings.
Not to seem unappreciated over your generaous offer, but after the actual purchase cost with S & H and then the cost of S & H to get the lights to me am I really saving any $$ over just going to buy the lights locally ?

Spence,

I'm thinking of a pair of trapezoids facing front and a rear flood on my tractor and maybe a pair of trapezoids on the overhead cab shield on my dump truck for snowplowing, though I'm not certain what result that would yield. /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif

I can always put extra lights on the overhead light bars or grille guards on 4x4's though the advantage of them being switched lights will likely be lost as most folks would want an in-cab switch and always have the on-lamp switch "on" so the in-cab switch would be the sole control.

Mark,

The S & H from my source is included in my cost. I can't imagine S & H from me to you exceeding the $10 per lamp savings (especially since the S & H from me to you will be all S and no H as I work pretty cheap /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif).

I'm thinking one of those soft side mylar like UPS bags and a bunch of packing peanuts would be the way to go since the lights are already in the factory bubble pack. I hope that answers your question. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Brett,

Simply put, they are 55 watt, 4" x 6" 12V halogen lights with an integrated switch on the housing. I can get beam patterns including trapezoid (which I'm using facing forward to better see where I'm going and where I'm considering turning), floods (which I'll use facing rear to light my implement area) and spots (narrow beam but greatest distance which might be good if you are farming and want to see ahead to row ends).

I'm no lighting expert so I'm only telling you what I plan to do. If you're happy with your headlights and don't use a FEL then maybe just one rear facing flood would do it for you. I use a FEL so I'm adding two trapezoids facing forward, too. I hope this helps. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance or if you want any of these.

Thanks for getting back to me Gary, you can put me down for a pair of trapezoids if it will help to put a six pack of them together.

Thanks, Spence

Gary, thanks but I think I'll pass this time. brett w

This seems steep to me unless you really have to have the OEM lights.

You can pick up 55W traps or floods for less than $15 and a switch is less than $5. I put 5 lights and 2 switches on my tractor for ~ $60, (the lights were on sale).

Well, since the cut off was the day before you posted I don't see how your preference for separate lights and switches which entail extra wiring and connections is of any value.

I was just offering to pass along my opportunity to buy a quality lamp from an OEM supplier with an integrated switch for a better price than was available anywhere else. I'm grateful that everyone who didn't want me to order lights for them didn't bother to post like you did. It probably would have shut down TBN. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

Gary, I apologize if you think I was being negative, that was not the point of my post. My point - there are deals all over the place, heck harbor freight has a pair of halogens with wire and a switch for $7.99 on the cover of their most recent catalog. $20/ea with an integral switch seems like a great deal, until you shop around.
