Not sure where to put this.....I have a 1 year old Bad Boy zero turn 21 hp Briggs/42 " cut and if it sits more than a week, the battery dies and has to be jumped. Is this because they put the cheapest battery in there and they don't last? Or is there some kind of drain that may be preventable?? The battery it came with is an Interstate but has only a 6 mo. warranty. When i hook up the charger, it says 58-59% battery left and then only takes a few minutes at 2 amps to charge. I'm thinking of putting an Optima in it and never having a problem again.

Anyone had this problem? And what do you think about the Optima? Could there be some connection that isn't quite right and needs alot of juice to go across??

Is that Bad Boy still under/warr. ?
You might have another problem, did you check all your connections, grounds, cut loose, broken wires etc for starters.
I don't have a horse in their race but IMHO Interstates a good battery company.
You might want to do a search on Optima batterys.

I've never owned an Optima battery but careful don't let price of them make you think there the last battery you'll ever buy.
Also you might want to google your Bad Boy mower # and see if any other owners experienceing similar problems.

Take one of the cables off of the battery and measure with an ampmeter between the cable and the post. There shouldn't be any noticeable draw. If there isn't any draw, leave the cable off and see if you still need to charge it the next time you need to mow. If it needs to be charged, you need a new battery as this one is self-discharging.

The mower itself is still under warranty but the battery is not.

I think the ammeter idea will help and if i have to i'll get a cutoff or fix the drain. it still bothers me that the battery has 59% left and that's not good enough to turn it over. it just clicks when you turn the key.

Optimas are expensive but i put one in my 855 JD and have not had a problem since. The 855 sometimes sits 6 months and starts right up every time now for 4 years.

Thanks for the help, y'all.
