I cracked and busted a hole through the back of my sunshade plowing snow last week. Backed into a thin, but well-placed tree limb spear-style.

It appears the canopy is ABS, which I am not equipped to repair. I was going to try my tiger hair and filler for fiberglass, but I don't want to have that fail and compromise the area for the correct solution. I don't have a plastic welder either. Is the canopy ABS, or another type of plastic? Is there a repair epoxy/filler for it available? Any ideas?? Thanks.

Gorilla Tape is a good short term fix.

How big is the hole? My gut would be fiberglass repair.

Go to a body shop supply store and get a 2 part plastic repair kit.
If the hole is real big you may want to get some fiberglass mesh to lay over the hole and then fill with the plastic repair.
It can be sanded just like bondo and still give you some flex.

Just to elaborate on what Wallace said they make a Plastic Welding Kit. I think Harbor Freight sells it. I borrowed one once to fix a cars mirror and it worked well. It uses rods to fill. You may be able to get by with a propane torch and some of these. Just sand to finish.

Thanks guys. I went down to the barn snowpile and retrieved the one piece that was missing. I'm pretty good at body work, and I have a good buddy who works at a body shop. I'll get a strand of mesh and reinforce the entire back edge, because it is flimsy. I'm sure he has the 2-part plastic epoxy.

That plastic welder looks like a good idea to have around. I'll probably buy that too.

Where do I get Kioti paint? What's the color code? Thanks again.

I suspect a quick trip to see Rick would get you some Kioti paint. I know I should not admit this... I found some Kubota orange at a NAPA store.. close enough for me.

Here in Canada it was Chevrolet Orange 1620, found at Canadian Tire stores. Can remember the brand though.

I've whacked my sunshade a few times too and have a couple of cracks but no pieces missing. I just consider the defects to be war wounds, badges of honor. My grapple took revenge on the enemy branches in both cases. No prisoners.
